An adverb is a word that describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
It tells us how, when, where, how often, or how much something happens.

Example:
She runs quickly.
Here quickly describes how she runs, so it is an adverb.


โญ 1. Adverbs of Manner (How?)

They tell how an action happens.

Examples:
quickly, slowly, carefully, happily, loudly

Examples in sentences:

  • The boy ran quickly.
  • She sang beautifully.

โญ 2. Adverbs of Time (When?)

They tell when something happens.

Examples:
now, today, yesterday, soon, later

Examples in sentences:

  • I will finish the work soon.
  • She came yesterday.

โญ 3. Adverbs of Place (Where?)

They tell where something happens.

Examples:
here, there, outside, inside, everywhere

Examples in sentences:

  • The children are playing outside.
  • Come here.

โญ 4. Adverbs of Frequency (How Often?)

They tell how often something happens.

Examples:
always, usually, often, sometimes, never

Examples in sentences:

  • She always wakes up early.
  • I sometimes watch TV.

They tell how much or to what extent something happens.

Examples:
very, too, quite, almost, completely

Examples in sentences:

  • She is very happy.
  • The water is too hot.
