1. What are the various forms of Government?
Various forms of Government are Monarchy, Dictatorship, Democracy
2. Write a short note on Monarchy?
- Before the country were politically united, most of them are divided into many kingdoms, which were ruled by kings and queen
- Monarch enjoyed supreme power; they do not need to consult anyone before taking decision
- Kingship was hereditary
- The people cannot elect or remove King/ Queen
- Monarchs do not guarantee right to people and cannot express their opinions freely
Example for Monarchs:
- Kingship passed from Chandragupta Maurya to Bindusara and then to Ashoka
- After Iltutmish (Delhi Sultanate) kingship passed to his daughter Razia Sultan ( Women Monarch)
Fact: In world, there are 44 countries in the world, they follow monarchical system of government
3. Write a Short note on Dictatorship?
- Dictatorship is a form of government.
- When a country that is governed by one person, or a political entity it is called as Dictatorship.
- They are not restricted by any constitution/ law
- Dictatorship governments are formed when the power is taken illegally/ forcibly
- Protest is usually very very rare, and people cannot raise their voices.
4. Write a brief note about the world famous Dictator?
- The world famous Dictator is Adolf Hitler.
- He is a German.
- He took over the chancellorship of Germany in the year 1933.
- He established Nazi party and dissolved German parliament called Reichstag
- He took away the Freedom and rights of people, no one allowed to criticize or express their opinions
5. Whether they are recent Dictator nowadays?
- Yes, now they are also Dictators
- North Korea – Kim Jong Un
- China – Xi Jinping
- Though China rule is said as PRC ( Constitution of People`s Republic of China) they are People`s Democratic Dictatorship
6. Define Democracy?
- Democracy comes from two words “demos” meaning people and “kratia” means rule.
- In Democracy people have the ultimate rule.
- Arabian Lincoln defined Democracy as Government by the people, of the people.
- First country was democracy started was in 5th century Athens.
7. What is the principle of Democracy?
- Democracy is based on the principle of equality
- In Democratic country all citizens are equal.
- A Democratic country does not discriminate against its citizen based on caste, creed, colour, gender, language. Etc.
8. What are the Elements of Democracy?
The major element of democracy is Participation of people and voting
9. Write about Direct democracy, Representative democracy?
In olden times, when population was smaller, people gather in city/ under tree, all the matters regarding the welfare of the area and people are discussed here. This simple form of democracy is known as Direct Democracy
Representative democracy:
When the population increased, villages became larger, elections are held. The system of electing representatives, which govern on behalf of the people is known as Representative Democracy.
10. Define Voting?
In Democracy, the citizens of the country elect government by voting. People can remove the representative by not voting to them in next election.
11. Define Franchise?
- Franchise refers to the right of citizenship.
- All democratic government in world provide Universal World Franchise wherein all citizens enjoy the right to vote.
- The elections through which union government of country is formed is called as General elections.
- If the elected representatives do not fulfil their promises, the people will not vote them for next time and can bring a new representative
12. What are the other forms of participation by people in a Democratic country?
- In Democratic country, people can express their views in many forms.
- They can organise strikes, dharna, rallies, shouting slogans, signature campaigns.
- People often organise social movements to protest/change policies of the government.
- Members of Ministry community Dalits, adivasis, women use this means to protest the government.
13. How the conflicts between the states are encountered?
- The Government brings the conflicts under control by maintaining law and order
- Main conflicts are religious concerns, sharing of river water between states.
- Interstate water sharing conflicts are resolved by government by forming a tribunal through negotiations.
14. How Equality and Justice play a key role in Democracy?
- Equality is ensured in Democratic country they do not discriminate citizens on basis of caste, creed, colour, gender, language etc.
- Justice for all in ensured in democratic country, those who do not follow equality rules are punished accordingly.
15. What is the role of media in a democratic country?
- Media play an important role in Democratic country.
- They act as voice of people and provide information about the work done by the government
- Television is a popular medium where debates and programs are carried out through which the government works reach the people easily.
16. Write a short note on Democracy in India?
- India became democratic in 1950
- Indian constitution guarantees Universal Adult Franchise, that is all citizens have the right to vote when they complete 18 years

- Women`s Suffrage Movement began in mid-19th century in Britain
- As a result of this Women got the right to vote
- 1918 – Britain
- 1920 – USA
- 1944 – France
- Earlier Women were not allowed to enter the worship places
- After a petition filed in Bombay High Court in 2016, the Court ordered that it is fundamental right of women to enter temple and it is government duty is to protect this right.
